Rahall Statement on Memorial Day

May 24, 2013 Issues: Armed Forces, Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va) Friday released the following statement on Memorial Day.

“This weekend, we rightly honor our brave men and women in uniform and give thanks to our veterans and their families.  So many of West Virginia’s sons and daughters have proudly and courageously served and lost life and limb in defense of our freedoms and democracy.  We must never forget their patriotism and what we owe for their service and sacrifice.  On Memorial Day, as we strive to articulate what our veterans’ service means to our country, let us begin by ensuring that we honor our promises to them, and remembering our world is safer and the ideals of democracy and freedom endure thanks to their patriotism.”
